From the top: Stan Ternent column
Aug 29 2008 by Dougie Thomson, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
THE transfer window closes late on Monday night, and I still have one or two irons in the fire, although I’m disappointed not to have brought in Dominic Green, who was due to join us from Dagenham and Redbridge.
Instead he’s gone to Peterborough United and I’m disappointed with the actions of his agent.
I had the player, his mum, Dagenham manager John Still and their chief executive up here last midweek, and from our point of view, the deal was done.
Dominic had completed a large part of his medical and we put him up in a hotel on Friday so he could come to the game against MK Dons.
Perhaps that’s what frightened him off, but to be serious, I told him to go away and have a really good think and make sure he was happy at moving up here.
He’s only just turned 19, and it’s a big deal to leave home at his age, although his dad lives in Leeds.
Everything seemed fine, and we had a meeting set up for 3.00 on Tuesday to finalise all the paperwork.
We were waiting for Dominic and his agent to arrive, then I got a phone call at 3.00 to say he was at Peterborough, and it became clear what had happened.
