Liam: I'm glad to stay

LIAM DICKINSON helped Town collect a welcome first home League I win of the campaign then said: “I’m glad I’m staying for a while yet.”

Boss Stan Ternent was today set to complete the paperwork on a loan extension for the Derby County striker, who made his fifth Town appearance in Saturday’s 3-2 success against Northampton.

The 22-year-old ex-Stockport star had a hand in two of the goals as Ternent’s side came from behind after Luke Guttridge had given the visitors a 25th-minute lead.

Andy Booth levelled in the 34th minute and Michael Flynn’s goals in the 64th and 78th made it 3-1 before Liam Davis struck in stoppage time to ensure a nervous wait for Town fans in a 12,414 crowd (296 in the away end).

But Dickinson insisted Town deserved the three-point haul which hoisted them eight places to 15th.

“We were all disappointed at losing at home to Tranmere, but we had a good week on the training ground and we went into Saturday’s game with confidence,” he said.

“We bounced back well after they went ahead, and while we got the rub of the green a few times, it was due.”
