Worthington: My problems are in the past

THERE’S a real battle for midfield berths at Town this season – but after two years of injury frustration, Jon Worthington is happy just to be fighting for a shirt.
The tough-tackling 25-year-old has had to make do with six starts in the 10 matches so far, but he’d far prefer to be frustrated by being on the bench than in the treatment room.
“I don’t want to tempt fate, but I’m confident that my groin problems are a thing of the past,” said Worthington, who after being a regular for three seasons, was limited to 30 outings in 2006-07 and 27 last time around.
“Now my main worry is getting a place in the starting XI, but I’ve got no problem with that!”
Having inherited Michael Collins, Andy Holdsworth and James Berrett as well as Worthington, manager Stan Ternent has added to the engine-room mix by recruiting Jim Goodwin, Michael Flynn and Ian Craney.
Only Flynn and Craney have figured in all the matches for which they’ve been available – with the former often deployed on the left instead of the central role which would be his first choice.
