League I round up - Leeds downed by Posh
Oct 6 2008 by Dougie Thomson, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
LEICESTER’S lead at the top of League I became three points as 10-man Scunthorpe let slip a two-goal advantage at Leyton Orient.
And it could have been worse for the Iron had Adam Boyd not missed a penalty.
Izzy Iriekpen (26 minutes) and former Town loan man Paul Hayes (45) put the visitors in front.
But when Joe Murphy was sent off in the 57th minute for bringing down John Melligan, Orient took advantage even though replacement goalkeeper Josh Lillis, the son of ex-Town favourite Mark, saved the spot kick.
Boyd made up for his miss by scoring two minutes later and Stephen Purches equalised in the 67th minute.
Leeds remain fourth despite their five-match winning streak ending in a 2-0 defeat to Peterborough.
Goals by George Boyd (47) and Craig Mackail-Smith (90) sealed if for the Posh.
