League I round-up

SCUNTHORPE lead League I by two points after Matt Sparrow’s last-minute goal gave them a 2-1 win at Cheltenham.

Nigel Adkins’ side took the lead when Gary Hooper raced on to strike partner Paul Hayes’ through ball to slot home past Scott Brown after 34 minutes.

Cheltenham hit back through a Paul Connor header on 68 minutes after an inswinging corner from Alan Wright.

The game looked to be heading for a stalemate until Sparrow hammered home from 12 yards in the 90th minute.

Second-placed Leicester lost ground on Scunthorpe when Danny Whitaker’s superb 25-yard strike gave Oldham a 1-1 draw against them at Boundary Park.
