Hard road in football for Town striker Jones

STEVE JONES faces a daily commute from Crewe as he bids to get his career back on track with Town.
But three hours a day on the motorway is no problem for a player who has gone much further afield for the sake of his football.
Stan Ternent’s loan signing from Burnley, who turned 32 today, has taken a circuitous route to the Galpharm, where he is aiming to net a century of goals in the English senior game.
Born in Londonderry, Northern Ireland, Jones, who had netted 98 times before today’s League I clash at Peterborough, played as a youngster in the country he was later to proudly represent.
But an international call-up must have seemed a long way off when the striker, whose family moved to Oldham when he was 12, was rejected by Bury and Blackpool as a teenager.
