Dean Hoyle: Why Ternent had to go - the full story

DEAN HOYLE wants a young, enthusiastic manager for Town and today assured fans: “It will be my choice.”

The chairman-elect admits he has candidates in mind to succeed Stan Ternent, whose 195-day reign was the shortest in Town history and featured just 18 competitive games.

There is no timescale, but Hoyle has pledged to provide funds for the new boss – an eighth manager in 10 years – and to back Town “responsibly” for the foreseeable future.

“I’m looking for a young, enthusiastic manager who has got the fire in their belly to match the ambitions of this club – and he’ll be my choice,” said Hoyle today.

“It might not happen overnight, but we need to get the right guy and we need to build for the future with someone who buys into our business plan for the whole of the club.”
