ANDY HOLDSWORTH has been given the job of leading Town into a new era.
The 24-year-old defender, who started only three of the last 10 matches under Stan Ternent, is handed the captain’s armband for tomorrow’s FA Cup first-round tie with Port Vale at the Galpharm (3.00).
Caretaker manager Gerry Murphy has confirmed he’ll have club captain Chris Lucketti as one of seven substitutes, so Holdsworth will lead out the team.
“Andy is a thinking man’s footballer who reads the game very well,” said Murphy, starting his third stint as caretaker boss.
“He’s got a great attitude and a lot of other qualities as well and that’s why I’ve chosen him to take the armband tomorrow.”
