GERRY MURPHY celebrated an “ugly” Town victory and praised the players by telling them: “You showed character, commitment and desire.”
Town built on the victory against Leeds by toppling Brighton at the Withdean thanks to a Michael Collins strike on 49 minutes and a Matt Glennon penalty save.
It preserved only a fourth clean sheet of the campaign as Town moved up to 13th ahead of tomorrow’s meeting with lowly Leyton Orient at the Galpharm (7.45).
“It wasn’t easy and I think I put on 10 years during the game,” said Murphy, who again had James Berrett at sweeper.
“The previous week against Leeds we played some good football on a big, open pitch and Leeds played football as well – but that wasn’t the case here.
“Full marks to Brighton because they pressurised us in all areas of the pitch and we had to deal with that.
“This was the ugly side of football, but the lads have shown character, commitment and desire and we’ve come away with three fantastic points.”
