Backs-to-the-wall win delights Ling

MARTIN LING watched his Leyton Orient side chalk up a fourth win in five games and admitted: “It was a backs-to-the-wall 1-0, but I’m not going to complain.”
The former Brisbane Road player, whose side triumphed at the Galpharm for the second season running thanks to Adam Boyd’s shot after just 62 seconds (he also grabbed an early winner last time around) insisted: “We can pass the ball a lot better than we did and I gave them a bit of a blast about it at half-time.
“But we defended very well, produced a fighting display and showed some character and that’s a very important win and six clean sheets in the last seven games.”
Of Boyd’s strike, Ling, whose side rose to 17th, said: “It’s the kind of chance Adam takes so well, and throughout his career he has a scoring rate of one every two-and-a-half games.
“And that’s three goals in four games, so he’s playing with confidence, which is always good for a striker.
“Jason Demetriou could have got another for us, but Matt Glennon made a good save.
“That was just about it for us, but our own goalkeeper wasn’t often stretched either.”
