Huddersfield Town's Murphy: We need composure

GERRY MURPHY watched Town suffer a second home defeat under his command and a sixth of the season and admitted: “We didn’t show enough composure in front of goal.”

The caretaker manager admitted his gameplan backfired as Adam Boyd’s strike just 62 seconds in settled last night’s Galpharm contest.

Murphy, whose men slipped a place to 14th in League I as a result of the 1-0 defeat in front of 10,414, just 129 of whom were visiting fans, was frustrated at the rejection of three penalty appeals.

But he pointed out: “We didn’t work their goalkeeper enough.

“Too many of our chances went wide or over, and it’s all about composure in front of goal.”

Town were undone by three late goals when Port Vale won 4-3 in the FA Cup at the Galpharm in Murphy’s first game back at the helm, but this time it was an early effort, and the Irishman said: “It was a bad start.
