THE TOWN Supporters Association are celebrating after a successful bid to buy club legend Billy Smith’s collection of medals, shirts and memorabilia.
Also included are items belonging to his son Conway, who made 40 appearances between 1947-51.
Billy played 574 times from1913-34, more than any other player in Town’s 100-year history, and was a key figure in the club’s all-conquering team of the 1920s.
Included among 12 medals are the three for Town’s famed league championship hat trick (1924-26) as well as the FA Cup and Charity Shield winners’ medals from 1922.
