Murphy keeping mum on keeper for Southend clash

GERRY MURPHY is remaining tight-lipped over who will be between the posts when Town visit Southend United on Saturday.

But Simon Eastwood, the third stopper in Town’s squad after Matt Glennon and Alex Smithies, is confident of making his first appearance for loan club Woking tonight.

The caretaker chief sprung a major surprise by handing 18-year-old Smithies only a second league start in Saturday’s 2-1 home win over Walsall.

But he won’t rule out restoring experienced Glennon to the starting XI as Town chase a third straight away win – and a fourth victory in five League I outings – at Roots Hall.

It’s a ground which holds painful memories for both stoppers.

Glennon, 30, was controversially red carded there last season, handing substitute Smithies his first senior appearance.
