Town's Denton’s enjoying Woking challenge

TOM DENTON is relishing the challenge of pushing Woking up the Blue Square Premier table – and says he wouldn’t mind extending his stay beyond the initial month.

Both the 19-year-old Town striker and his Galpharm teammate Simon Eastwood are on loan at the Surrey club.

While goalkeeper Eastwood is in line to make his first appearance in tonight’s home clash with Rushden and Diamonds, Denton made a scoring debut in the 3-0 Setanta Shield victory at Salisbury a week ago and was also on duty in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Blue Square leaders Histon.

Woking are down in 20th, just above the relegation zone, but Denton believes he can help fire them away from the danger zone.

Denton, who like Eastwood is staying in a local hotel, said: “It’s something a bit different, I’m enjoying it and I can’t wait for the matches to come around.

“My aim is to get fitness and sharpness and also to help Woking get some wins.”
