Huddersfield Town land Terry McDermott

TERRY McDERMOTT is Town’s new assistant manager.

The hugely experienced 57-year-old agreed terms with the club yesterday and will be in the dug-out for today’s big match against Hereford United at the Galpharm.

New manager Lee Clark completed the coup as he continued preparations for his first match at the helm.

Ex-Liverpool and England star McDermott, who has had two spells on the backroom staff at Newcastle and also worked for Celtic, joins a management team which also includes coach Derek Fazackerley and performance coach Steve Black.

All three worked together under Kevin Keegan at Newcastle, with Clark a member of the St James’ Park playing squad.

“Terry is vital to what we are trying to achieve here,” said Clark of the three-times European Cup winner, who also collected four title medals with home-city club Liverpool.
