Huddersfield Town lost £1m last season

TOWN have reported a £1m loss for the second year running.

Helped by the run to the fifth round of the FA Cup, income rose from £3.97m to £4.63m during the 12 months up to May 31 this year.

But wages went up to £1.9m (from £1.64m) – and that doesn’t take account of the big influx of players under former manager Stan Ternent.

In his annual report, chairman Ken Davy reported the club’s loss at exactly £1m (it was £1.05m the season before) for a campaign in which Town finished a “disappointing” 10th in League I after parting company with manager Andy Ritchie on April 1.

The figure would have been higher had it not been for the FA Cup success under Ritchie, with Town beating Accrington, Grimsby, then-Premier League Birmingham and Oldham to earn a lucrative trip to Chelsea, where a bumper 41,324 saw the Galpharm side beaten 3-1.
