Clark demands reaction to defeat

LEE CLARK will demand a positive reaction at home to Scunthorpe tomorrow (3.00) after Town slumped 3-0 at Carlisle with a performance the manager admitted was “very disappointing”.

Town remained 10th in League I despite falling victim to goals by Danny Graham (12th minute), Michael Bridges (56th) and Graham Kavanagh (75th) at a ground where they have now suffered six defeats in their last seven visits.

It was only a second loss in nine league games for Town, and Clark is confident his side can ensure the setback in front of 7,883, including more than 1,000 visiting fans, is only a blip on an upward curve.

“I wasn’t doing summersaults after we beat Hereford, and I’m not slitting my wrists now,” he said.

“We all know this side is far better than that performance.

“We’ve given away three goals and while the second was a touch lucky for Carlisle, we should have defended better with the first and third.

“It’s very disappointing after the run we’ve been on and the way the players have trained.”
