Review of 2008 at Huddersfield Town
Dec 27 2008 by Dougie Thomson, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
Between Ritchie’s departure and the end of last season, Murphy and Graham Mitchell oversaw four victories and two draws.
And after Ternent left, there were four more wins to hoist Town up to 10th, the position they finished in last season.
Hoyle led the search for the new manager, and announced he’d found his man – the former Newcastle, Sunderland and Fulham midfielder Lee Clark – on December 11.
Ex-Newcastle reserve coach and Norwich assistant manager Clark, at 36, exactly half Ternent’s age, was appointed alongside Derek Fazackerley, who has worked with England as well as Newcastle, Blackburn and Manchester City, and renowned sports performance coach Steve Black.
Soon after, former Liverpool, Newcastle and England star Terry McDermott became Town’s assistant manager.
