I liked the whole package: Clark

LEE CLARK hailed a bounce-back performance which had “a bit of everything”.

Bitterly disappointed by Town’s 3-0 Boxing Day setback at Carlisle, the manager was delighted by yesterday’s 2-0 home success against Scunthorpe.

It was a seventh win in nine League I games for 10th-placed Town and Clark said: “We put in a terrific display which had a bit of everything – commitment, desire, togetherness and some top-quality football.

“I think all of those attributes are important in today’s game.”

Town had to wait until the 65th minute for the breakthrough goal by Jim Goodwin – along with Andy Butler one of two Scunthorpe old boys in the Town team – and the victory was sealed by top scorer Gary Roberts’ eighth of the season in stoppage time.

“I liked the whole package,” added Clark after his second win in three matches at the helm.

“We started well in the first half, and when they started to come into it, we stood up to be counted and showed how resolute we can be.

“Then when we had the opportunity to play football for spells in the second half, we did.
