Parker: I'll be Huddersfield Town goals guru

Clark, who named an unchanged starting line-up against Oldham, says he and his backroom staff are checking out a number of potential transfer targets.

“I was at a game on New Year’s Day with my assistant Terry McDermott and we will be back out and about in the coming weeks,” said the boss, whose side head to Northampton on Saturday.

“We have lots of contacts in the game, and we are looking into the character of several possible targets, although the players already here are presenting a good case for themselves.”

Scouts were out in force for the Oldham game, which was preceded by a minute’s applause for former Town manager Ian Greaves, who has died aged 76 (see Pages 4 & 5).

Six Premier League clubs – Aston Villa, Blackburn (who had two scouts present), Bolton, Fulham, Sunderland and Tottenham – were among the 18 represented.
