“When you watch the top teams, they play some fantastic flowing football, but they also know how to close a game out.

“I thought their opportunity came from us overplaying.

“Danny Cadamarteri’s pace was causing them problems, but with 15 minutes left, we stopped sending balls around the sides of them.

“And we didn’t capitalise on several situations when the final pass wasn’t right.

“We didn’t reach the standard set against Oldham in terms of our passing game, but in terms of an away performance, we put in a good shift.

“Having said all that, I’ve told the players that it shows how far we have come when we are so disappointed only to draw at a place like this.
