ANDY BOOTH is relishing his return to action with Town.
But as the countdown to Saturday’s home League I clash with Swindon continued, the strike star warned supporters: “I’ve still some way to go before I’m back to full match fitness.”
Having been out since September with a back problem which required surgery, the 35-year-old was delighted to be handed a surprise call-up for Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Northampton, where he came on as an 80th-minute substitute.
And as sources within the club played down speculation over a move for experienced frontman Kevin Phillips, once a Sunderland teammate of boss Lee Clark, Booth had another run-out in yesterday’s practice match at Blackburn, which finished 1-1.
“It’s fantastic to be back in action, and being involved at Northampton was a huge lift for me,” said Booth, who is eager to add to his tally of two goals for the season, 144 for the club and 178 in his career.
