League I round-up

WHILE Leicester stretched their League I lead over out-of-action MK Dons to nine points, Oldham went third by seeing off Stockport 3-1 in the North-West derby at Boundary Park.

Dean Windass proved too much for the Stockport defence to handle, setting up Danny Whitaker’s opener and then providing the flick-on for Lee Hughes to double the home advantage.

Oli Johnson headed Stockport back into it five minutes before the break, but Chris Taylor killed things off with Windass again involved.

Stockport, who last week sold striker Anthony Pilkington to Town, are eighth.

Jermaine Beckford came off the bench to score the winner for Leeds as they boosted their play-off push with a 3-1 victory over fourth-placed Peterborough.

Beckford had been on the pitch for just four minutes before grabbing his first goal in the 62nd minute, and he doubled his tally nine minutes later.

Craig Mackail-Smith got Peterborough back into the game before Jonny Howson capped the victory in the final minute.
