Huddersfield Town's Worthy on loan move

FORMER skipper Jonathan Worthington today looked to pastures new for the first time in his career and told Town fans: “I need to be playing matches.”

The 25-year-old could well start a month on loan with League I rivals Yeovil by making his debut against Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road today.

It will be the first time the academy product has not worn the famous blue and white stripes in 237 senior appearances – including a play-off final success at Cardiff.

His former Galpharm colleague Danny Schofield has assured Worthington he will enjoy the experience at Huish Park, where they are bidding to build on two successive victories and 18th place in the table under manager Russell Slade.

“It has been a frustrating time for me in the last few weeks as the new manager (Lee Clark) has obviously not seen me in his plans,” said the Gomersal-based Worthington.

“That’s how things are in football, but it’s the first time I’ve been in this situation in my whole career and, at my age, I need to be playing games at first-team level. A couple of things cropped up, but I spoke to Russell Slade and to Danny Schofield – who is enjoying life down there and pestered me to join them – so I’m going to play some football.
