‘We committed suicide’ – Lee Clark

TOWN boss Lee Clark’s frustration is growing after his side conceded a crucial late goal for the third time in eight days.

After squandering points at Stockport last Saturday and at home to Colchester United on Tuesday, when Town took a point when looking set for victory, they blew the one point they had as James Henry bagged an injury time winner for Millwall as the Lions left the Galpharm 2-1 winners.

“In the space of a week we have gone from being a team who does everything very well to a team that is throwing away opportunities to get something from games by committing suicide,” said Clark.

“It is tough to take and it is getting very frustrating. We have to get back to doing the basics right because we are not doing the right things at the right time in games.

“I felt the first half was poor but we got to grips with things a little bit better in the second half. But I am not going to make excuses because the first half simply wasn’t good enough.”

Town managed to reach half-time on level terms but slipped behind to a 69th minute strike from Marc Laird before Gary Roberts pulled the home side level with a smart finish after good work by Anthony Pilkington.
