Huddersfield Town's Andy Booth sets sights on new ground

TOWN legend Andy Booth knows his way to goal – but it’s map, compass and sat-nav to find a route to Hereford!

Barring a few of the new stadiums, the 35-year-old marksman has played on all the old grounds in the Football League apart from Hereford’s Edgar Street.

So tomorrow’s match completes a career clean sweep and he’s aiming to celebrate the occasion with a goal and a much-needed Town victory.

“I’ve not only never played there, but I don’t remember ever going to Hereford,” said Boothy, desperate to pep up a points haul which reads four from 21 since the home win against Leeds.

“To be honest, I’d no idea where Hereford was until the lads started talking about it in midweek, because a few of them have played there in the past.

“If you’d stuck me in a car a week ago and said ‘drive to Hereford’ I would probably have set off in completely the wrong direction!”

Hereford, on the Wales border, is still the home of the SAS and Boothy knows it’s a case of ‘who dares wins’ in the first meeting between the two clubs at Edgar Street since Town’s 3-1 win there en route to the Fourth Division title in 1980.
