Berrett, who has made 29 appearances in all and scored twice since making his debut at Oldham in April 2007, said: “I think the club is going places and I want to be a part of it,.
“You can see the quality that the recent signings possess. I’m sure more will be coming in and I hope we can really achieve something here next season.
“The main thing is that I’m enjoying my football here – we have a good set of lads and I love the fact that I am playing for my hometown club.
“There is a great vibe around the place and I have really enjoyed working with the new manager and his coaching staff.”
Town, meanwhile, have brushed off reports linking them with Bristol Rovers hot shot Rickie Lambert and Everton with highly-rated teenage goalkeeper Alex Smithies.
But striker Phil Jevons has had his loan spell at League II Bury extended to cover the play-offs.
