Huddersfield Town linked with Oldham, Southend United, Stockport County and Sheffield United players
HUDDERSFIELD Town continue to be linked with a host of players this summer.
Reports suggest Town have joined the race to sign Southend United player of the year Peter Clarke.
A report in the Southend Echo said a source close to the Galpharm had confirmed Town were interested in the player's signature - with Charlton also interested in signing the 27-year-old defender.
The source said: “The management were very impressed by how he played when the two clubs met towards the end of last season and they have monitoring the situation since then.”
Town know they face a battle to snap up the centre-back but hope he will be keen on a move back to the north which is nearer to his Southport home.
Southend also want to keep the former Everton trainee but have a real fight on their hands to keep him.
Clarke, who has made 150 appearances for the Shrimpers since signing from Blackpool in a £300,000 deal three years ago, impressed at the heart of the defence last term and was voted player of the season by both the supporters and his fellow team-mates.
