Huddersfield Town patient on capture of Southend United's Clarke

TOWN boss Lee Clark could be set to add to his squad for next season in the next few days – but the Galpharm Stadium club are having to be patient.

Sources on the Essex coast are strongly suggesting that Southend United defender Peter Clarke could be the next player to join the Terriers for next term, but Town are waiting for contract issues to be resolved before they can confirm he will join Antony Kay – signed from Tranmere Rovers – on Town’s books for next season.

Southport-born Clarke becomes a free agent at the end of this month as his contract with the Roots Hall club runs out and while Town have been linked with the 27-year-old they are not about to jump the gun.
