Honoured to serve Huddersfield Town say departing duo

ROGER ARMITAGE has supported Town all his life and after stepping down from the board he said: “It’s been an honour and privilege to be involved at the club.”

The 66-year-old played a key role when the club was in administration (in 2003) in helping former chairman Ken Davy acquire Town.

He has been finance director for almost six years and represented Town on the Development Association – the independent organisation that oversees the funding of the club’s Academy.

“As a Town fan of over 60 years and a regular Giants supporter during my teens, it has been an honour and a privilege to be involved with the football club and the stadium company,” he said.

“During my time as a director I have seen Town rise from the ashes thanks to Ken Davy’s rescue of the club and I wish Dean Hoyle every success as chairman as he takes the club forward in the future.”

With no financial records or systems following the administration, Armitage was responsible for creating those for the new company.

He has overseen finances as Town developed The Barn Academy facility at Leeds Road Playing Fields and the retail and office expansions at the Galpharm Stadium.

He is also a trustee of the Sporting Pride Community Trust – the organisation that runs The Zone facility and manages the club’s Football in the Community activities. He has been one of the Huddersfield Sporting Pride-nominated directors representing Town on the Board of Kirklees Stadium Development Ltd (the company which operates the stadium).

Ralph Rimmer, who has stepped down from the boards of both Town and the Giants, remains managing director of KSDL.
