Andy Booth column: Ronaldo's move, Capello's quality and big Eorl's reward
Jun 12 2009 by Peter Barrow, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
HAVE known Giants star Eorl Crabtree for some years now and it’s great to see him getting the rewards that he deserves.
He is playing for England In France tomorrow and he is only reaping what he has earned with his consistently good performances as a loyal servant for Huddersfield, – and as a hometown boy as well – at the top level of rugby league.
It is a great accolade for the Giants to have two players in the squad with Scott Moore joining Eorl in representing his country and it shows that the Giants are definitely heading in the right direction. It certainly looks as though they have got a very strong chance of being in the Super League play-offs this season and it is great to see a Huddersfield club in such good form.
And the GIants doing well is a bonus for Town too!
Obviously sharing the ground having the Giants doing so well produces a real feelgood factor around the place.
The Giants are an ambitious club, as are Town, and hopefully we can both go on and fulfil those ambitions together.
WHILE I have said before that I don’t regard it as proper cricket, wasn’t it great to see the Aussies knocked out of the World Twenty20 competition.
Admittedly they were in perhaps the toughest group with West Indies and Sri Lanka, and they certainly suffered at the hands of Chris Gayle, but that game just goes to show that one performance can dictate the result in the shortened form of cricket.
I really just don’t think you would see Australia making a first-round exit in any other form of the game.
But while it might be very enjoyable for us, the Aussies now will be nicely rested up and prepared for the Ashes series and, most worrying, is that there could be every chance that they now feel they have a point to prove and come bouncing back in style.
