TOWN will take on Newcastle and Middlesbrough in a new-look reserve division next season.
The North-East duo’s relegation mean their second strings are no longer eligible for the Premier Reserve League.
Now they come under the totesport.com League umbrella and will feature in a renamed Northern Division alongside Town, Bradford, Grimsby, Hartlepool, Leeds, Lincoln, Rotherham and Scunthorpe.
The new set-up means two extra reserve fixtures for Town, who lost only once in finishing runners-up to Leeds in the East Division last season and whose coach Paul Stephenson is a former Newcastle player.
Burnley (West) and Shrewsbury (Central) were the other divisional winners, while in the South, the totesport.com Combination champions were Reading (Central), Luton (East) and Plymouth (Wales and West).
