Top teams are set to test Huddersfield Town

Newcastle were fourth and Middlesbrough 10th in the 11-strong Premier Reserve League North last season, when Sunderland were the champions (they lost to Southern title winners Aston Villa in a play-off).
While Town are awaiting confirmation of next season’s reserve fixtures, the League I list is published at 10.00am on Wednesday while the Carling Cup first-round draw is made at 9.30am tomorrow (see feature Page 32).
Of the three clubs relegated from the Premier League, only West Brom figure in a draw split into North (17 ties) and South (18).
Town are seeded because of their final position of ninth in League I last season, so their opponents will come from the following list: Accrington, Bradford, Bury, Carlisle, Chesterfield, Crewe, Darlington, Grimsby, Hartlepool, Lincoln, Macclesfield, Morecambe, Notts County, Port Vale, Rochdale, Rotherham, Stockport.
