Stockport County cup reunion good news for Huddersfield Town's Pilks

Next on the agenda for Melrose will be to appoint a new manager, and one-time Blackburn trainee Pilkington, in the Town team which fought out the second of last season’s two 1-1 draws with County at Edgeley in February, said: “Some things will have changed, but I’ll still know a lot of the lads.

“I’ve got a lot of time for Stockport because they were the club who gave me my break and I won a Wembley play-off with them (in 2008).

“I really hope they emerge from their current problems and thrive as a club once again, and I know they will see the Carling Cup as a way of generating some much-needed money.

“But Huddersfield are my team now, and all my efforts are geared towards getting success here.”

Round two of the cup, which will be in its 50th season, takes place in the week beginning August 24 and includes Premier League sides who have not qualified for Europe plus relegated pair Newcastle and Middlesbrough.
