TOWN launch their 2009-10 League I season with a 230-mile trip to Southend United on Saturday, August 8.

It marks an immediate return to Roots Hall for Town signing Peter Clarke, who is player of the year at the Essex club.

And it means new Galpharm chairman Dean Hoyle and director Sean Jarvis will have plenty of pedalling to do on their bike ride to the first away game to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Manager Lee Clark's first home league game of the campaign is against relegated and financially-troubled Southampton on Saturday, August 15.

That's four days after Town have entertained Stockport in the first round of the Carling Cup, although they are also at home to Brighton on August 18.

Town fans will travel to Elland Road on Saturday December 5 for the derby against Leeds United, while they will have to wait until Saturday, February 27, for the home clash against Simon Grayson's side.

At Christmas, Town are away to Lee Clark's old club Norwich City on the 19th before visiting Carlisle on Boxing Day (for the second successive season). Town are then at home to Milton Keynes Dons on Monday December 28 before entertaining Bristol Rovers at the Galpharm on Saturday, January 2.

The Easter programme sees Town travel to Wycombe on Saturday, April 3, before hosting the trans-Pennine derby against Jon Worthington's Oldham on Easter Monday (April 5).

Town round off their campaign with the longest trip of the season - 275 miles - to Exeter on Saturday, May 8.
