Huddersfield Town boss on opening fixtures against Southend United and Southampton

Town’s first visit to the St Mary’s Stadium, Saints’ home since leaving The Dell in 2001, will be on Saturday, January 9.

Town’s longest trip of the campaign, to promoted Exeter, 273 miles away, is on the final day of the regular season, Saturday, May 8.

The eagerly-awaited Leeds derbies – Town have won the last three meeting in a row, of course – are both set for Saturdays, December 5 at Elland Road and February 27 at the Galpharm.

There’s a Boxing Day repeat of a trip to Carlisle (Town crashed 3-0 at Brunton Park on December 26 last season), while MK Dons visit on the holiday Monday, December 28.

There are no games scheduled for New Year’s Day, because January 2 is a Saturday (Bristol Rovers at home unless either side is in the FA Cup third round).

Easter fixtures are Wycombe away on Saturday, April 3 and Oldham home on Monday 5.

Meanwhile after the Brighton game on August 18, there are five further matches taking place on Tuesday evenings: Walsall away (September 29). Swindon away (November 24) Tranmere home (December 1) and away (February 23) and Walsall home (April 13).

Town’s last home game of the regular season is Colchester on Saturday, May 1.

The League I play-off final is at Wembley on Sunday, May 30.
