THURS PM: Huddersfield Town sign Coventry City striker Robbie Simpson

Robbie Simpson

TOWN have made Coventry striker Robbie Simpson their third summer signing.

The 24-year-old former Cambridge player has agreed a three-year contract to follow Tranmere midfielder Antony Kay and Southend centre-back Peter Clarke into the club.

Town haven't disclosed the fee paid for the frontman, who still has a year of his contract at the Ricoh Arena to run, but say reports of it being £500,000 are "well wide of the mark".

Simpson has netted seven goals in 71 outings (43 of them from the bench) in his two seasons with the Sky Blues, who paid Cambridge a reported £70,000.

The one-time Norwich junior player gets the chance to face his old teammates when Coventry come to the Galpharm for a friendly on Saturday, July 25.
