Meanwhile former Southampton chairman Leon Crouch has refused to comment on speculation suggesting Kevin Keegan may make a sensational return to the club, who are Town’s first home league opponents on Saturday, August 15.
Reports have linked the relegated club with their former star player of the early Eighties.
Current boss Mark Wotte’s contract runs out on 30 June, and he is today due to clarify his position with the club’s intended new owners.
However Crouch’s Pinnacle group insist Keegan has not had a formal approach.
Another ex-Saints favourite, Matt Le Tissier, is due to become chairman of the new board if the takeover is successful.
Leyton Orient have landed Tranmere defender Ben Chorley on a two-year deal while promoted Brentford have signed three players from London rivals Dagenham and Redbridge – strikers Ben Strevens and Sam Saunders, who bagged 14 goals each last season, along with defender Danny Foster.
Midfielder David Hunt has also agreed a new two-year deal.
