Huddersfield Town are being used to push up prices after being linked with Cardiff City, MK Dons and Watford men

With Cardiff’s Warren Feeney, Watford’s Theo Robinson, MK Dons’ Aaron Wilbraham and Brighton’s Glenn Murray among the latest names to be linked to Town, Clibbens added: “So many are being mentioned that it’s become pointless to comment, because clearly we can’t sign everyone.
“Lee and his staff are constantly monitoring players and drawing up lists of possible targets, and in some cases, enquiries are made to see if players are available, but there’s a big difference between asking about someone and putting in a bid.
“We have signed three players so far (Antony Kay, Peter Clarke and Robbie Simpson) and we are in negotiations with a number of others. Some of them may end up coming, some may not.
“With contracts not finishing until the end of the month and some players and managers still away on holiday, it’s impossible to put a timescale on transfers, either into the club or out of it.
“But I would expect things to hot up once the majority of clubs, ourselves included, begin pre-season training next week.”
