Huddersfield Town: Michael Collins’ contract booster

LEE CLARK has hailed Michael Collins’ talent and work ethic after the midfielder signed a contract extension to keep him at Town until 2012.

The 23-year-old academy product made a major contribution under Clark last season, when he netted 10 times in 39 appearances, taking his total club tally to 19 in 135 games (27 of them from the bench).

And the boss, himself a former midfielder, said: “Michael has the whole package.

“He has a fantastic attitude, he trains extremely hard every day and he gives his absolute best in every game he plays.

“He is always looking to improve and that fits perfectly with the strategy I am working on. I want young, hungry players who are always looking to get better and progress.

“Michael also has a unique habit for a central midfield player – he scores goals regularly.

“Michael can get better still and I know he will strive to do that.”

Town have new dates for both their League I derbies against Oldham Athletic next season.

Clark will now take his team to Boundary Park on Sunday, November 1 (2.00), 24 hours after the original date.

And the Latics will come to the Galpharm on Tuesday, April 6 (7.45), rather than Easter Monday.

Oldham have signed Ex-Town striker Pawel Abbott from Darlington.
