Family backing so vital for Huddersfield Town ace Jordan Rhodes

Jordan Rhodes

Rhodes, who goes into today’s clash at Charlton Athletic chasing his 12th goal since his summer switch from Ipswich Town, is the son of former Barnsley, Doncaster Rovers, Oldham Athletic and Emley goalkeeper Andy Rhodes and the nephew of the ex-Barnsley, Leicester City, Sunderland and York City midfielder Steve Agnew.

And he admitted: “There’s no danger of me getting carried away with anything.

“There are plenty of footballers in the family, and if I ever get a bit too big for my boots, my dad and my Uncle Steven will knock me down very quickly!”

Rhodes, pictured celebrating last Saturday’s hat trick with fellow frontman Lee Novak (right), is equally down to earth about his target for the rest of the season, insisting: “My main objective is to stay in the team.”
