Michael Collins prepared for tough test at Oldham Athletic

MICHAEL COLLINS believes tomorrow’s trans-Pennine visit to Oldham Athletic (2.00) can be the start of something special for Town.

After Dagenham and Redbridge visit in the first round of the FA Cup next Friday (7.45), Town host Wycombe Wanderers in League I on Saturday, November 14, when Sky will screen the game live and kick-off is 12.05, and Hartlepool United on Saturday 21 (3.00).

Then it’s a Tuesday-night trip to Swindon Town on November 24, with the following weekend designated for the second round of the FA Cup.

“Being realistic, these are the kind of games we have to be winning if we are to get to where we want to be,” said Collins, who will make his 12th appearance of the season and 174th in total for Town tomorrow.

“The aim is to put a run together and really rein in the sides at the top of the league, and there’s no reason why we shouldn’t do that.

“Our poor run away from home has been well documented, but there’s a genuine belief among the players that we are very close to putting that right.

“We’re a young side, and in many ways, still at the learning stage, and we have to ensure we put the painful experience of recent away trips to good use.

“Our home form has been very solid, and sooner or later, we’ll carry it on into an away game.
