That made it two league wins on the bounce for Danny Wilson’s team, who won 4-1 at Tranmere previously, and three out of the last four in all competitions, with Woking beaten 1-0 in the FA Cup to set up Saturday’s second-round trip to Wrexham.
Town, of course, travel to Port Vale in their bid to make round three, but Kay is fully focused on tonight’s three-point quest, pointing out: “We’re up for it, but they will be too.
“They’ve got some decent players and while they had to make a long journey for Saturday’s game at Carlisle, they’ll have been lifted by the win.
“The league table shows what both sides are about, so it’s got all the makings of a good match.
“We produced a good performance at Oldham last time we went on the road, and the aim is to keep it tight, attack like we can do and keep our winning run going.”
Town are aiming for six victories in succession for the first time since the 2003-04 League II promotion campaign, when Peter Jackson’s side saw off Darlington (1-0 away), Bury (1-0 at home), Doncaster (3-1 home), Cambridge (2-1 away), Boston (2-0 home) and York (2-0 away).
