Gary Roberts in confident mood ahead of Carlisle United contest

GARY ROBERTS says Town’s battling 2-2 draw with League I promotion rivals Swindon can be the catalyst to victory at Carlisle.

Lee Clark’s seventh-placed side head to Cumbria for tomorrow’s showdown knowing they’ll be facing a home team on a high.

Greg Abbott’s side, who held Town goalless at the Galpharm nine days ago, booked a trip to Wembley by beating Leeds in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Northern final last Tuesday.

And they followed up by putting five without reply past eighth-placed MK Dons at Brunton Park on Saturday, when they had five different scorers.

But Roberts, restored to the starting XI against Swindon after sitting out last Tuesday’s goalless draw at Brighton, insisted: “That’s seven unbeaten in the league now, and there was only one team who were going to win this one.

“The manager asked for higher intensity and a bit more quality going forward and I think we delivered on both fronts.

“It’s frustrating that we couldn’t force more goals, because we certainly had the chances.
