JONATHAN TEHOUE has already caught the eye at Leyton Orient.
But Brisbane Road boss Geraint Williams reckons the best is yet to come from the 25-year-old French frontman whom Town tried to sign during last season’s January transfer window.
A contractual dispute between the Parisian player and Turkish team Konyaspor meant the Galpharm club went to FIFA in an unsuccessful bid to secure his services.
With progress on Tehoue’s availability so slow, boss Lee Clark pursued other signing options last summer.
Tehoue finally resurfaced in East London shortly before Christmas, when a trial spell led to him signing an Orient contract through to the end of the season.
It was extended to the summer of 2012 earlier this month with Williams explaining: “We’re looking forwards to working with Jonathan, especially with a full pre-season under his belt.”
Tehoue, who has also played in his native France and Belgium, is in line to make his fourth start and 13th appearance in all for the O’s against Town tomorrow, when he’ll aim to add to a two-goal tally.
Top scorer is 11-goal Scott McGleish, the 36-year-old striker who is now in his third spell at Brisbane Road.
He was loaned there from Charlton back in 1995, and in late 1996, signed permanently from Peterborough in a £50,000 deal.
After spells at Barnet, Colchester and Northampton, McGleish, who has 220 career goals, left Wycombe for Orient 13 months ago.
McGleish came in for experienced former Ipswich man James Scowcroft as Orient collected a first win in eight games by defeating Walsall 2-0 at Brisbane Road last Saturday.
It was one of four changes made by Williams, the former Ipswich and Wales midfielder and Colchester manager.
Goalkeeper Glen Morris replaced back injury victim Jamie Jones, centre-back Ben Chorley returned from a hamstring injury, relegating Luke Ashworth to the bench, and Sean Thornton was preferred to Jimmy Smith in midfield.
