Huddersfield Town round-up: PNE to look at Trotman, Roberts wins award and Reserves win
PRESTON NORTH END boss Darren Ferguson could put Neal Trotman on trial in the League I play-offs.
North End loaned Trotman to Town shortly after Ferguson’s appointment in January.
And now Ferguson plans to take in one of the knock-out games as Huddersfield bid for a place at Wembley and a return to the Championship.
The centre of North End’s defence needs urgent attention in the summer and Trotman’s part in Ferguson’s rebuilding could hinge on his performances in the play-offs.
Ferguson says the 23-year-old ‘may come into the equation for next season’.
He told the Lancashire Evening Post: "Neal has done all right at Huddersfield.
"The lad is playing in a team which has been doing well.
"To be fair I’m glad Huddersfield are going to be in the play-offs because they will be tough games.
"I’ve had some good reports on Neal and I will probably see for myself how he does in the play-offs.
"He may come into the equation for next season, but centre-half is definitely an area I have to strengthen for next season."
Trotman played just once for Preston this season in the 5-1 Carling Cup win over Morecambe.
Dean Heffernan has told the Sydney Morning Herald he’s "loved every second of his stint in West Yorkshire".
The 29-year-old left back said: "It’s been a great experience.
