Huddersfield Town's Andy Butler would welcome Scunthorpe United return

Andy Butler

ANDY BUTLER says he’d jump at the chance to return to Scunthorpe United – so long as his feet allow it!

The 26-year-old Town defender who signed on a three-year contract from the Championship club in 2008, has been made available for transfer by boss Lee Clark.

A regular pick under Stan Ternent, his outings under Clark have been less frequent and he was loaned out to Blackpool back in January.

Scunthorpe are believed to be in the market for a centre-back, and Butler, recovering from surgery to sort out bunions on both feet, says he’d be delighted to get a phone call from manager Nigel Adkins.

“Scunthorpe have always been close to me because I grew up there, and I still speak to some of the boys,” said the man who made 153 appearances for them.

“I’m not going to start saying too much because if anything happens, it’s up to Nigel. But obviously if the chance to go back came along it’s something I would be interested in.

“When I left, I did so because I had to look after my family. Do I regret it now? I suppose I do and I don’t.

“It’s swings and roundabouts really. That’s football, people move on and sometimes find the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.”

Butler, who has played 58 times for Town, added: “I miss certain people and fooling around with people I grew up with, so in that way it’s been tough.

“If Scunthorpe had been able to match financially what I was offered at Huddersfield, I would have stayed.
