HUDDERSFIELD Town continued their squad reshaping by completing Michael Collins’ transfer to Scunthorpe with manager Lee Clark saying: “I’m delighted at the way pre-season is going.”
Having sold James Berrett to League I rivals Carlisle, Town then confirmed his fellow midfielder Collins has moved into the Championship for a fee reported to be in the region of £100,000 plus add-ons.
That means of the eight contracted players made available for transfer in May, only midfielder Jim Goodwin and winger Lionel Ainsworth remain with Town, who are at a Cheshire training camp.
While Andy Butler and Tom Denton have agreed contract settlements, Simon Eastwood has moved to Oxford and left-back Joe Skarz to Bury.
As with Collins, who made 197 Town appearances and netted 22 goals, the transfer fee for fellow Republic of Ireland Under 21 midfielder Berrett remains undisclosed, although it is believed Town have negotiated a series of beneficial clauses.
The 21-year-old could face Town in the first round of the Carling Cup at Carlisle on Tuesday, August 10.
Berrett, also linked with Tranmere, has a two-year contract.
"The manager (Greg Abbott) wants to take this club forward and I want to be a part of that," said Berrett.
"It became an easy decision to come here and I am really looking forward to what is a new challenge for me."
