Huddersfield Town players off to Oxford United and Chesterfield on loan

TWO of Huddersfield Town’s top young prospects are being loaned for six months to League II clubs.

The 19-year old defender Leigh Franks (pictured) will be at newly-promoted Oxford United with ex-Town keeper Simon Eastwood until January 3.

And right-sided defender or midfielder Jack Hunt is joining Chesterfield at their new b2net Stadium for the same period.

Town manager Lee Clark said: “Getting the young professionals out on loan is something I’ve always wanted to do; they need to be out playing at a good level where winning matters.

“At reserve-team level the result isn’t always the important thing, but now it will be very important.

“It’s important that I see the lads in this environment and we will be going to watch them on a regular basis to compile dossiers on them.

“In January we should know whether all three – James Spencer is already at Morecambe – are going to be Huddersfield Town players or not.”

Franks joined Town as a 16-year-old from Bridlington Town and impressed enough to earn full terms.

“It will be a terrific learning curve for Leigh,” said Clark.
