HUDDERSFIELD Town have completed the signing of Alan Lee - weeks after agreeing a price for the striker.

The 32-year-old former Republic of Ireland international frontman joined from Crystal Palace for an undisclosed fee on a two-year-deal, having passed a medical yesterday.

Huddersfield Town boss Lee Clark said Lee could bring a different approach up top: "We have been looking for a different type of striker to compliment the others we already have at the club, so in that sense I'm really happy with this acquisition.

"Alan will take the load off the younger strikers, who have done brilliantly; it's really tough up there given some of the defenders you come up against and now they have someone alongside them."

Huddersfield Town chief executive Nigel Clibbens added: "We agreed a deal in principle with Crystal Palace for a transfer ahead of the season and the financial terms haven't changed since then.

"However, Alan's goals and performances in the early season, Crystal Palace's exit from administration and transfer restrictions all combined to make it difficult to get him here. Once Palace secured their release from administration and we were given permission to speak to the player, matters were quickly concluded.

"We will not disclose the detailed terms but suffice it to say that the speculation regarding a three-year-deal, £500,000 transfer fee and wages which emanated from quotes in the London media are once again hugely exaggerated.

"In fact, the initial outlay and the structure of the deal represent excellent business for the club"
